Welcome to the Corelli College Creature Carnival website
The summer of 2014 saw Corelli’s Creature Carnival, an exciting public arts trail exhibition in Greenwich that launched at the historical and iconic Cutty Sark. This month-long event was one of the most highly anticipated public exhibitions to hit the streets of South London in years, featuring 32 uniquely designed sculptures created by established artists, teachers and students. Corelli College collaborated with Wild in Art, who design sculptures that are decorated for environmental use via a variety of school, community and artist collaborations. Sculptures of an owl, cow, pig, frog and shire horse went on display at 18 locations throughout Greenwich town centre, creating talking points and photo opportunities for visitors following the arts trail. The sculptures were available to view at the Cutty Sark, Greenwich Market, Greenwich Theatre, Lush Designs, Historical London, Chock-a-bloc Toys, Biscuit, Made in Greenwich, Hola Paella, Greenwich Baby, Bullfrog Shoes, Waterstone’s, Ourshop, Jamie’s Italian, Joy, Waitrose and the Post Office. The exhibition also included book benches in conjunction with Books around Town, Wild in Art and the National Literacy Trust. Each location was highlighted on a specially produced trail map to mark the occasion. An auction will take place at Corelli College on 23 October. Doors open at 5.30pm and the auction will begin at 6.30pm. The auction is the grand finale to this memorable project and the perfect opportunity for the community to own a lasting memento whilst raising money for a good cause. Money raised will go towards future creative projects for Corelli College and 25% of all proceeds will go to Compassion in World Farming. Latest Blog Posts
