Summer School 2017 Corelli's Summer STORYHOUSE

A summer school experience where anything is possible for the imaginative and curious!

My name is Shermaine Slocombe and I am the Arts College Manager at Corelli College.  I am confident to say we offer outstanding opportunities for our students to engage with arts and culture. The arts are crucial to every young person’s development regardless of what career path they follow and are a route to an enjoyment of education, encouraging them to learn, think differently and be inspired.

We are very proud of the annual Summer School as it is targeted to all students who are coming to Corelli College in September 2017.  It is especially aimed at those students who are interested in the visual or performance arts, want to meet like-minded people and aspire to find creative ways of expressing themselves. Students work with Corelli staff as well as with talented artists from Emergency Exit Arts.  We provide opportunities to develop new skills, work collaboratively and take risks, whilst working towards a cross-art form final piece.

The summer school provides an excellent way for your child to meet teachers from Corelli College and make friends in a warm and creative environment. Students are supported by a small team of older students from Corelli College as part of our mentoring and student leadership programme.

This year Corelli College’s annual summer school invites incoming Year 7 students to participate in a summer school with a difference - expect large scale and miniature interventions interspersed with visual and performance arts.  Students will work towards their Discover ArtsAward, explore the extraordinary and create dynamic sculptures inspired by oddities which have caught their curiosity!

The Summer School takes place at Corelli College and is FREE.  To participate your child needs to be able to commit to the whole week (Monday 14th August – Friday 18th August). On Friday 18th August friends and family will be invited to our STORYHOUSE where creations will be unveiled and marvelled upon.

Spaces are FREE but places are LIMITED so booking is ESSENTIAL. To book a place for your child please email Sam Alliston at Corelli College:SAlliston@Corellicollege.org.uk or call: 020 8331 3960. Alternatively, email:info@eea.org.uk or call: 020 8853 4809.

Visit Creative Corelli to see examples of previous summer schools and all our fantastic work.

In 2015 when asked to describe the summer school in one word, students said: amazing, awesome, inventive, fabulous, fun, exciting, fun, booming and brilliant!

I look forward to meeting you and your child soon.
