Stunning Barcelona

The Languages Department took 26 of our Y8 - Y10 students to Barcelona. The weather was glorious and the students (and staff!) had a wonderful time.

Barcelona, the cosmopolitan capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, is known for its art and architecture. Students saw Antoni Gaudí’s mesmerising Sagrada Família church and the charming Parc Guell.  They took part in competitions such as a postcard competition using language they had been learning in lessons and a Catalan food finding competition in El Corte Inglés (supermarket) in which students had to ask for and follow directions to find traditional Catalan foods. The Mercat de St Josep food market allowed students to try a range of new Spanish and Catalan foods.  We all enjoyed stunning views over the city from the old Bull Ring (Las Arenas shopping centre) and Montjuïc Castle.  They felt the magic of the football field at Nou Camp football stadium and received Spanish language lessons.

All students were sensible, mature and a real credit to the Academy, practising their Spanish and getting involved in all aspects of the trip. We were very proud of them.
