London Citizens Young Leader of the Year Award
We are very proud to announce that Corelli College Sixth Form student Chloe Toland has won the London Citizens Young Leader of the Year Award. The award was presented at the London Citizens Conference by Dame Tessa Jowell. A number of our sixth Form students presented at the conference, sharing the model for Peer Resilience Mentoring with other students, school leaders and representatives from Teach First.
Chloe has been involved with Citizens UK since Yr.10 to develop Mental Health campaigns and work with students and staff at Corelli College to create a stronger culture of support on Mental Health.
Froi Legaspi, community organiser for Greenwich explains:
For Citizens UK, Chloe is a co-signatory to the UK's first school-led Young People's Mental Health Charter. She has also led negotiations with NHS Greenwich CCG and Oxleas NHS Mental Health Trust on policy change and innovation. Because of her work and vision, young people will now have better outcomes if they miss their initial appointments, and students in two schools now have access to twenty trained Resilience Peer Mentors - which is already helping students in need.
